A native of Amarillo, Karen Proffer, MSN, FNP-C, specializes in plastic surgery, surgical dermatology, lasers, injectables, and other in-office cosmetic procedures.
Karen received her nursing license from Amarillo College School of Nursing in 2000. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Karen then obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from West Texas A&M University. Karen completed a trauma internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and worked as a trauma nurse there for two years. She returned to Amarillo, and a career in plastic surgery chose her when she began working for a local well-known plastic surgeon. Karen became a Registered Nurse First Assistant and grew in her knowledge and love for plastic surgery.
Karen has a broad base of knowledge on the treatment of cosmetic and reconstructive patients. She is passionate about thoroughly educating her patients on their specific needs. She continues to expand her education through conferences, courses, and certifications in order to stay up-to-date on the latest advances in plastic surgery.
“I’ve seen the changing landscape of plastic surgery in the last decade, and I’m eager to meet the challenges the future of plastic surgery will bring. My close relationships with my patients, as well as the exceptional staff at Proffer Surgical Associates, makes my job especially rewarding,” Karen says. “There is no place I would rather be.”
